Show 566 / 4 Feb 2017

Welcome to another hour or two of A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a pop trash / gay / remix flavour. This week it’ll be a 2-hour show from 6-8pm because Neon Nights’ John Von Ahlen is over in New York. Poor him! So it’s another eclectic mix with some oldies, and oldies re-jigged a bit, plus a splattering of new and recent tracks. Mostly killa, but a little filla.

My Song Of The Week is an oldie actually an oldie from 1981, but it’s been spruced up recently by UK duo A1 People. It’s ‘Homosapien’ from Pete Shelley and it sounds as exciting and outrageous as it did back then. If you’ve never heard of it, check out the video of the original below.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from 6-8pm for two bakers dozens of fab-u-lous tracks. Your host is Dick.

What have we seen around town this week

Film : Manchester by the Sea : Another not to be missed film, starring Casey Afleck as a damaged man, given guardianship of his nephew when his brother dies. It’s a duty he does not want, but the beauty of the film in that the back-story is slow dripped to the audience, and by the end of the film you are both satisfied and slightly depressed. It’s a remarkable achievement, the acting is wonderful, but more importantly, so is the writing.

Film : Split : I was looking forward to this as it was a hostage movie about a guy with 24 personalities in his head, which took turns to make their appearances. Unfortunately it turned out to be more of a multiplex film, more of the shock horror than the medically insightful. In other words it’s stalker trash. If that’s what you want then you’ll probably enjoy this.

Dick’s Top 5 Videos

Jamiroquai : Automoton (another great hat … very space age)

Inna : Heaven (on a bicycle with a very cute guy)

Rockets : On the road again (French space rockers from 1978)

Blue Zone : Jackie (featuring 1988 Lisa Stansfield)

Mida : Believe (official lyric video, cover of Cher’s hit)

That’s your lot ….. now sashay away …
