Government House, Walk, Vigil, Sorry Day, Exh Building, Kylie M

In this show, we report on last Monday’s Reception at Government House, Victoria in recognition of International Day Against Homophobia, Bi-, Intersex-, and Trans-phobias (IDAHOBIT). We include some grabs from the speech of the Governor – The Hon. Linda Dessau AM – to the crowd of nearly 1,000 guests. We also remind our listeners of last Saturday’s Walk for Marriage Equality and Sunday’s International AIDS Candlelight Vigil.

We talk about the forthcoming ‘Sorry Day’ celebrations, the slow rise of recognition and acceptance of our original inhabitants and the moves for Constitutional recognition of indigenous history. We note how other countries have successfully managed this process – sometimes with formal treaties.

We discuss some iconic buildings in our political progress, and the destruction of our environment from introduced species. Birthday greetings to Kylie Minogue who is 49yo on 28 May 2017.

Plus some trivia and mirth and much more ….
