Emma DonovanThis edition of Black, White & Rainbow features Emma Donovan. She talks with Ande about her background, singing career from the Stiff Gins through the Black Arm Band to the Putbacks, recording solo and with various friends, songwriting and what’s coming up. Emma will be performing with the PutBacks at the Darebin Arts Centre on 28 May.

International artist of the week is Cesária Évora (1941-2011), from Cape Verde but later based in Lisbon. Her recording output was extensive, as shown in her discography. Cesária combined styles including uptempo Coladeira and its lower-tempo derivative Morna (songs of sadness; both from Cape Verde).
