Sporting Stars at the 2015 Team Melbourne Sports Festival

Team Melbourne’s 2015 Sports Festival is getting bigger and better with every week! Come along to Victoria University Footscray on Saturday January 31st and spend the day with us. There are over fourteen sports to try and each session is designed to give you a flavour of what Melbourne’s GLBTIQ clubs have to offer. The day has been designed especially for newbies. You can try a variety of sports and mix with members of the queer community in a friendly and fun environment.

Our 2015 Sports Festival will get some high powered help from representatives of the St Kilda Football Club, Melbourne Rebels Rugby Union, Melbourne City A League, Netball Victoria and Basketball Victoria.

St Kilda players will help Team Melbourne’s newly formed AFL 9s team run a one and a half hour session and former Matilda Louisa Bisby will help the Rovers out on the soccer field. Naturally all organisations will throw their weight behind Team Melbourne’s mission of equality in sport regardless of sexuality.

Along with the sports people have come to expect like swimming, rugby, soccer, rowing and volleyball, the 2015 Sports Festival will host some new sessions that will be sure to get people’s attention. The Western Foxes Gridiron club will host a “give it a go” session and Basketball Victoria and Netball Victoria will be hosting information sessions for those people interested in setting up teams. So if you have ever wanted to find out more about team sports and recreation, the Team Melbourne Sports Festival is the event for you!

The banks of the Maribyrnong are the perfect location to spend a day out with the queer sporting community so bring a picnic blanket and prepare to spend the day in the beautiful surroundings of Footscray Park. JOY 94.9 will be there pumping out the tunes and this year Team Melbourne will be providing plenty of shade to go along with a BBQ lunch.

Participation in the Team Melbourne Sports Festival is free so make sure you put the date in your diary! For more information visit www.teammelbourne.org.au.
