JOY 94.9

The rainbow of JOY appeal is about the GLBTI community investing in the future of GLBTI community radio.

JOY is a gay and lesbian, independent, non-profit organisation supported by members, volunteers and sponsors. JOY 94.9 plays a major part in the life of our community, supporting our diverse GLBTI community groups and covering the issues that are important to us and we want to continue to bring you all your favourite programs. it costs us approximately $13,000 week to provide you with unique GLBTI!Q content 24 hours a day and we're determined to keep delivering this to you! 

Rainbow of JOY will give us immediate financial support to do some essential things:

Replacement or repair of aging equipment, including a purchase of a new file server that runs the broadcast and keeps us on air

Completion of studio works

Installation of new transmission equipment

To do this we need to raise $30,000 and it will only be possible with your support. The rainbow of JOY appeal will allow us to invest in the future. The relocation from our previous office in South Melbourne to our new office in Bourke Street and while the move was a dream come true it did cost quite a bit. In 2009 we also felt the sting of the GFC, which reduced sponsorship dollars. We want to invest the money raised through radiothons and fundraisers in future planning, not the servicing of debts. This is a critical time in JOY’s future and we need your help.

We aim to raise these funds by building a rainbow of JOY, to be displayed in reception. This rainbow will be made up of pixels which will contain messages from JOY supporters who purchase parts of the rainbow.When purchasing pixels there are two options to choose from:

$40 - 1 pixel containing up to 25 characters and coloured indigo

$250 - 7 pixels containing up to 200 characters and coloured red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo or silver.

Buying a part of the rainbow allows you to leave a lasting message and show your support in a non-conventional way.
