We usually don’t crow about our music list here at JOY, but this week we thought we’d give you a little reminder.
It’s widely known that commercial networks fulfil their 25% Australian airplay regulation quota by loading up their overnight music from midnight to 6am. Not us! We hit you with 35% Australian music from 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
In spite of our weekday music averaging 35% Australian-artist airplay, we maintain a uplifting dance-pop mix that wouldn’t be out of place, soundwise, on any commercial network. It’s just better.
Proving our point, this week five of our six additions are Australian, and four of them are independent releases, too.
Leading us out of the gate is former Taxiride lead singer, Jason Singh, with the second single from his debut album.
Two independent out-and-proud Melbourne gentlemen, Peter Wilson and Brad Wolfe, also make the mix this week.
Brisbane six-piece Sheppard, three of whom are siblings George, Amy and Emma Sheppard, had a surprise hit last year with Let Me Down Easy. They return with a new release from their forthcoming debut album.
Jessica Mauboy never fails to impress, and the fourth single from her third studio album is an up-tempo ballad that is sure to be another winner.
Finally, British teen band The Vamps failed to make a mark on the Aussie charts with their second single, so they’ve rush-released the third single simultaneously with the UK. Last Night will try to capitalise on the original success of Can We Dance.
