The British four-piece girl group Neon Jungle, consisting of Shereen Cutkelvin, Amira McCarthy, Jess Plummer and Asami Zdrenka, are best known for their second single, “Braveheart”, co-written with Australia’s own Cassie Davis, which peaked at number 4 on the UK singles chart and 19 on the Australian charts earlier this year. The girls fourth single kicks off our new music additions this week.
UK songstress Paloma Faith has been banging on the door to chart success for almost five years now and finally gets a top 10 breakthrough both at home and here in Australia with “Only Love Can Hurt Like This”. We’ve elected to spin the remix by UK out-and-proud DJ-producer Adam Turner, who can also now be heard every Saturday morning at 1am AEST on JOY for his own mix show, Turn:ed On.
We have local Melbourne independent music from out-and-proud favourite Peter Wilson and South African-born newcomer Ceeko.
Expat New Zealander Kimbra calls Melbourne home as well, and her latest single, “Miracle”, comes in two flavours. We’ve opted for the Spike Stent remix.
Miami-based French producer Cedric Gervais follows up his hugely successful collaborations with Lana Del Rey with a new track featuring a new, as yet unknown vocalist.
And we have UK house goodness from two more JOY favourites, with Cahill and Dirty Vegas both delivering.
