Kicking our new music off this week is Melbourne-based independent singer-songwriter Demi Louise. Demi was awarded the Australian Songwriters Association Pop Song of the Year in 2014. Her latest single, Taxi Driver, was written at the 2015 Canadian Music Week APRA song hub with Canadian producers/writers Tawgs Salter, Mike Wise and Carlton Stone. It’s a ripper.

The second single from Utopia by out-and-proud local singer-songwriter Peter Wilson was written by British hit-makers of the 80s Mike Stock and Pete Waterman. As a result you can’t miss the distinctive Stock Aitken Waterman signature sound coming through on ‘Doing What They Said Couldn’t Be Done’, produced by SAW regular, Pete Hammond.

The 2015 winner of Aussie X Factor, Cyrus, follows up his debut hit single with a brand-new song co-written and produced with the Sydney duo DNA. Keep Talking is a high-calibre pop ballad with ‘hit’ written all over it.

Melbourne-based DJ-producer Luke Chable was behind some of the biggest pop remixes of the last decade, but he has been quiet for the last little while. Luke is back with a re-work of American indie-pop band The New Division’s 2012 release ‘Opium’. It’s house magic for your ears.

British producer Sigala has two massive hits worldwide so far, and we’re expecting the new single, Say You Do, – a collaboration with compatriots Imani and DJ Fresh – to make it three out of three.

British boy band The Wanted were always favourites here at JOY, so when we heard that former member Nathan Sykes had teamed up with American star Ariana Grande we were excited – until we listened to the song. It was a bit, well, boring. Fortunately Nathan’s record company called upon American producer Elephante for help, and they have now re-serviced Over and Over Again (Elephante Remix) with a complete makeover. It’s amazing.

With the second single, Make Me Like You, from her third studio album, Gwen Stefani gives us what we’ve been waiting for! This is classic Gwen. We love it, and we think you will too.

Set your alarm and tune into Rochén, Adam or Michael on the six at six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
