Kicking off our new music is a remix for a song we’ve already been playing.  Sydney-based singer-songwriter Starley’s ‘Call on Me’ was added to our lists in early August. The song has been bubbling away across radio and streaming services and actually hit the top 50 of the singles charts just two weeks ago. Universal Music have lots of faith in Starley and are pulling out all the stops to try and get a genuine new Australian artist into the charts this year. To that end, the Ryan Riback-produced remix is a new servicing to radio and we’re more than happy to help with a switchover in our mix – let’s hope it gets more mainstream radio pick-up as well.

Irish DJ-producer John Gibbons has been described as Ireland’s answer to Calvin Harris. He’s had a couple of tracks featured in some high-profile US TV series this year, and he has now taken the melody and lyrics from the 1992 Charles and Eddie classic, Would I Lie to You, for a new spin to create a worldwide club hit now crossing over to radio.

We first noticed Louisa Johnson when she performed the lead vocal on Clean Bandit’s last single, ‘Tears’. She won UK X Factor in 2015, and her second solo release, So Good (her first release in Australia), is just excellent.

Detroit-born DJ-producer MK (Marc Kinchen) has teamed up with London-based singer-songwriter A*M*E (Aminata Kabba) to produce My Love 4 U – and it’s a banger.

Melbourne-based producer Anthony Maniscaleo – better known as Hook N Sling – has teamed up with Swedish production duo Galantis for what we think will be the tune of the summer. Just like you did with ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’ last year, we think you’re going swoon over Love on Me.

It’s been 25 years since Yothu Yindi’s ‘Treaty’ launched a predominantly Indigenous-language song into the Australian charts for the very first time. It was the Filthy Lucre remix of the song that made the world stand up and take notice – the first song in any Aboriginal Australian language (Yolngu-Matha) to gain extensive international recognition, which peaked at no.6 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play singles chart. As well as a who’s who of writing credits (Paul Kelly, Mandawuy Yunupingu, Stuart Kellaway, Cal Williams, Gurrumul Yunupingu, Milkayngu Mununggurr, Banula Marika, Peter Garrett), the remix producers, Filthy Lucre, were Robert Goodge, Gavin Campbell and Paul Main. With the exclusive release rights now passing to Melbourne-based out-and-proud Razor Records owner Gavin Campbell, a new remix package and new remastered versions of the original song have been made available for 2016, celebrating the 25-year milestone.

Set your alarm and tune into Michael on the Six at Six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
