We’re kicking off our new music this week with a local artist who is currently better known as a dancer and actor, having performed on stage with some of our biggest stars as well as in some of the sexiest shows in our venues around town. Zak Love is now putting singing and songwriting onto his list of accomplishments, and his debut release is a strong offering to say the least. ‘So Far Gone’ comes with a swag of remixes for every taste, and we think you will love the R&B-pop styled original on our airwaves during the day.

Zia is an independent singer-songwriter who has written lyrics for many well-known Australian and international artists over the years. Occasionally she steps into the ring and produces a song of her own. ‘The Cool’ is her latest, and a very smooth summer jam at that.

UK independent out-and-proud singer-songwriter Bright Light Bright Light continues to shine for us. The second collaboration on his current album features three collaborations with Elton John, and the second to be released as a single, ‘Symmetry of Two Hearts’, is shimmery feel-good pop.

Melbourne trio Emaar have never been particularly prolific, and we haven’t heard from them in more than four years. But what they lack in quantity, producers Robert Upward and Matteo Marinacci with singer Ellie Henderson have always made up for in quality. ‘Breathe’ is a stunningly beautiful production, and Ellie’s vocals are exquisite throughout.

In Stereo is a new Aussie boy band from Sydney featuring 16-year-old friends Jakob, Connor and Christopher. They are hitting their stride with their latest release, ‘Girlfriend’, which we think gives them a real shot at radio and chart success..

American singer-songwriter Bebe Rexha is riding high after the top 10 chart success of her recent collaboration with Martin Garrix. Her latest single, ‘I Got You’, is highly accessible pop that should find a similarly appreciative audience.

Muna is a relatively new three-piece girl-band from LA. When we picked up the band’s debut single, ‘Loudspeaker’, in April, we were already hooked. Originally quite coy about their personal lives, the girls have now publicly and fervently confirmed that they all identify as queer and that they deliberately keep their lyrics gender neutral so everyone can relate. We love them even more now, and we think you’ll love their latest single, ‘I Know a Place’.

British DJ-producer Sigala has teamed up with British singer-songwriter-producer-DJ Digital Farm Animals (aka Nicholas Gale) for what could be the song of the southern summer. ‘Only One’ is all kinds of fun, and you will be singing along.

We were already onto ‘So Good’, the latest single from UK 2015 X Factor winner Louisa Johnson, but it seems Australian mainstream radio has generally overlooked it so far – so she’s giving it another push with a remix from British DJ-producer Alex Adair that definitely lifts the song to a new level. We’re happy to help spread the word.

Set your alarm and tune into Michael on the Six at Six for the newest songs to the mix, every weekday at 6am Melbourne time.
