JOY favourite James Findlay joined Pete Dillon to look at Marriage equality. We started with Ireland, who will be voting in a referendum in May and is seeing polling at 70% in favour. Moninne Griffith joined the boys from Dublin to discuss.
Eric Kerr is a 21-year old councillor from the City of Wodonga who just this week voted to support marriage equality. Eric joined Pete and James to explain the council’s decision. Dr Mary Crawford was next, as James and Pete examined Queensland’s political shape ahead of the January 31 election. Colin Crycer and Ian Gould put the community spotlight on to GALFA a philanthropic movement supporting gay and lesbian organisations from bequests and donations.
Our Summer Series ended today with a look at Australia’s Cultural Identity, on the eve of Australia Day. Comedian Daniel Burt twirled in to take part in the discussion with Dr Katrina Schlunke of UTS in Sydney, Vincent O’Donnell, lecturer from RMIT and Channel Nine sports presenter, Tony Jones. Immigrants and intolerance, bogans and books, sport and celebration were all part of our discussion of who we are as a nation.
