Dan Koop – Creative Program Producer for Melbourne Fringe Festival

Dan Koop – Creative Program Producer for Melbourne Fringe Festival talks with David and Brendan about the Melbourne Fringe Festival which is about start. It’s on between the 14th September and 1st October 2017 at various venues.

Melbourne Fringe is the place to go for pure, unadulterated, uncurated and unexpected artistic discovery. We help artists develop and provide a platform for a vast, diverse range of voices, in celebration of the idea that when we come together, we create a safe space for risk raking. We find ideas from the margins and shout them to the world. We love the weird and strange, the different and queer, the misfits and the freaks. We’re here to challenge perceptions and shake up the hierarchy, to be brave and unafraid, to explore the boundaries of art and to change the way you see the world.

Dan is also involved with a fringe event called “Fringe Furniture 31” which is in it’s 31st year and is described as “from the reassuringly practical to the confusingly obtuse, Fringe Furniture has seen it all. A boundary-pushing showcase of cutting-edge industrial design. This is no Ikea showroom (though you might still find something comfy to sit on)“.   It consists of around 115 pieces of individually designed fringe furniture and it’s on at Abbotsford Convent from 14th September until 1st October and is a free event.
