The Passion …

Welcome to another A Touch Of Pink, your show for tracks with a fresh pop sound and an emphasis on GLBTI content/artists. Tonight all the tracks have GLBTI content.

A mix of mostly recent tracks, and a few newies, including local cabaret performer Justin Clausen, boyband Union J  and ex member George Shelley, Christine & The Queens, Eurovision performer Saara Aalto, Peter Wilson and Leo Frappier.

TRACK OF THE WEEK : Christine & The Queens – Doesn’t matter.

I loved the previous single, Girlfriend, but this one is even better. It takes a few listens, and check out the video below, then we can all wait for her CD, Chris, due out in September.

Here follows tonight’s playlist. Tune in this Saturday on JOY 94.9 from  6-7pm for a whole heap (as many as we can get through) of fun tracks. Your host will be Dick.

Playlist for Show 612 to be broadcast on 21st July 2018

What Have I seen recently ?

Show : John Cameron Mitchell – The Origin Of Love : A mix of songs and reminiscences mostly centred around the musical Hedwig & The Angry Inch, but fascinating, and some wonderful music. Hedwig is one of the few musicals you can listen to and actually know most of the songs. Too many musicals nowadays either rely on familiar tunes, or else you don’t remember any of the tunes. Hedwig really is a classic, and John Cameron Mitchell a true original.

Film : Mary Shelley: Interesting biopic of the author of the book Frankenstein, and wife to poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. It’s more a portrait of their love story, but there are some interesting scenes about the gestation to the book. Interesting, and a great looking movie.

Film : Ant Man & The Wasp : I’ll admit now that I have liked everything that Paul Rudd has been in, and this film is no exception. He can do a gay, as in Ideal Home, and he does a caring superhero in this film. It’s a great multiplex movie, fun and exciting, and also full of heart and humour.

TOP FIVE VIDEOS FOR THIS WEEK

Peter Wilson : The Passion & The Flame (album teaser)

Union J : Alive (you gotta love a good boyband)

George Shelley (ex Union J : Technicolour (GLBTI anthem – audio only)

Girl from the gutter (original 2000 version by Kina – stunning song)
