In this week’s show we discuss the State & Federal budgets and the role a gay man John Maynard Keynes had in formulating recent economic theory and policy.

We remember the birthdays of US singer/songwriter/actress Lesley Gore of ‘It’s My Party…’ fame who didn’t come out until 2003 but has been active in LGBT issues since then; also Aussie singer Darren Hayes of Savage Garden fame.

We get ‘fair dinkum’ as we chat about the Barcaldine May Day march in support of shearers which was also marked the start of the ALP and the union movement.

We lament the scourge of rabbits, prickly pear, cane toads, trout and now carp – all introduced pests.

Over the centuries, gay visual artists have left their marks – so we talk about Keith Haring, Tom of Finland, Matt Groening and Trey Parker.

We remember the Battle of the Coral Sea, which determined the ultimate security of Australia in WWII; and we mention the post-war Constitution of Japan which withdrew their ability to wage war.

Plus some trivia and mirth…
