World AIDS Day, Interview with Dean Beck, JOY’s 23rd Anniversary

This week we celebrate the 23rd Anniversary of JOY Melbourne going to air, and we also recognize World AIDS Day 2016 with a two-part interview with Dean Beck who discusses the path of HIV/AIDS since the early days of the current epidemic, current best practices and hopes for the future management of the virus. He also invites everyone to the launch on December 1st (which they need to RSVP to)and also recommends an app that helps people with HIV manage their health.

This week is also the anniversary of the death of Mathew Shepard, who was brutalised by some homophobic bullies and left on a fence to die; locally we talk about a 13 year old who was driven by student-bullies from his Brisbane school to take his own life; we reflect upon the need for Safe Schools education.

We also comment upon the apology being given to the LGBTIQ community by the South Australian Government and the intention to amend state laws to remove such discrimination.

Plus some trivia and mirth and much more ….
