At this time in 1985, Hollywood movie hunk, Rock Hudson, revealed that he was HIV positive – and in doing so, put a public face to the disease. He was amongst the first few who turned the tide of shame and horror, into compassion and support. Sadly, it has taken 30 years to tame the virus, even though smallpox was eliminated in 1978 and in 1885  began his career of immunisation of other world viruses.
