Daryl McKenzie, Melbourne Trombone Player, Composer, Arranger, Musical Director and Big Band Leader, spoke with David Moyle on Bent Notes about his memories of the spontaneity of working in the band on Hey Hey It’s Saturday, and the many aspects of Big Bands that draw you in and keep you coming back for more – the dynamics, the contrast, and the infectious nature of the ever present excitement from the moment that the Big Band starts playing.
