THE MEETING

The JOY Melbourne Inc. Annual General Meeting was held online Sunday 29 November 2020 3:00pm via Zoom, coordinated from the station premises Level 9, Bourke Street Melbourne.

Thank you to our members, team and guests for participating in this event!

Casual board members Gary SINGER & Madeleine SWAIN completed their terms and were elected unopposed as full Board members, joining existing directors Priscilla JEFFERY, David McCARTHY, Mark ADAMS, Helen JENTZ, and Pete HOLMES.

Addam Stobbs Award for Broadcasting Excellence

About the Addam Stobbs Award: One of the extreme low points of 2010 was the passing of Addam Stobbs. Addam was a Life Member of JOY in recognition of his enormous contribution over many years. We still feel the loss of his extraordinary passion, work, humour and enthusiasm. He is remembered by many as a mentor and friend. At the annual general meeting in 2010, the Board instituted an Award for Broadcasting Excellence in his name as a way of acknowledging Addam in perpetuity, with recipients honouring both their own success and Addam’s contribution.

The JOY board is pleased to announce the award recipient is Ti Butler.

Anne Hamilton Award for Volunteering Excellence

About the Anne Hamilton Award: This Award is to celebrate and recognise volunteering excellence. The inaugural Anne Hamilton Award was presented 27th October 2013 at the JOY’s Annual General Meeting. Anne Hamilton is a life member of JOY and the Award is instituted in her name to acknowledge Anne’s embodiment of the JOY mission and values over many years, her passion for community volunteering, integrity, work ethic, the quality of her work, her enormous contribution to the organisation and the excellent example set for us all in selfless volunteering excellence.

President’s Award

About the President’s Award: This award is awarded by the JOY President to someone who has made an outstanding contribution to JOY.

The inaugural JOY President’s Award was presented on the 29th November 2020 at the JOY’s Annual General Meeting to Hon. Martin Foley MP.

Annual General Meeting 2020 – JOY Melbourne Inc.

The Board of JOY Melbourne Inc invites all members to attend the Annual General Meeting to be held at 3pm sharp AEDT Sunday 29^th November 2020 via Zoom (due to COVID gathering restrictions). All JOY members may attend the meeting. As the meeting is via Zoom this year you must RSVP as we need to know the number of attendees. You will receive a further email with the Zoom meeting link and a link to JOY’s annual report a few days before the meeting. RSVP’s will close 72 hours prior to the meeting at 3pm on Thursday 26^th November 2020. (ZOOM link was sent)

We are excited to announce that our guest speaker for the AGM this year will be The Hon Martin Foley MP.

PRELIMINARY NOTICE OF MEETING

16 October 2020

Dear JOY Member,

The Board of JOY Melbourne Inc. invites all members to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held at 3 pm, Sunday 29 November 2020 electronically via Zoom. The details of the Zoom meeting will be forwarded closer to the time of the meeting.

The Board calls for nominations for prospective Board members, and for members to lodge agenda items for discussion at the AGM.

The JOY Rules also provide for honorary life membership of JOY. This honour is nominated by JOY Members and is awarded by the JOY Board to recognise a current or past member (the nominee must be a current or past member of JOY for a minimum of 5 years) for their extraordinary commitment and contribution to JOY. Nominations for life membership for 2020 will also close at the end of October. You can find more details and nominate someone on the Life Member page of the JOY website.

Nominations for board members and life memberships and agenda items for our AGM must all be lodged by 5 pm, Saturday 31st October 2020.

In due course, we will send the formal AGM Information Pack, which will include details of the nominees for the Board, their candidate statements, the agenda and any supporting documents.
