Rainbow Organisations Unite for COVID-19 Vaccinations – #FabJab

ANNOUNCING #FABJAB

Across the Victorian LGBTIQA+ sector, multiple organisations have come together to support and inform our community in getting fully vaccinated. Switchboard, JOY, Thorne Harbour Health, Drummond Street Services, Vincent Care, Your Community Health, Transgender Victoria and Niche are all uniting to protect our most vulnerable.

The Victorian Government has listed these organisations as COVID-19 Ambassadors which recognises them as key community groups within the LGBTIQA+ space that can create and provide resources and disseminate important information for the intersections of the rainbow community.

As part of this ambassadorship, the group are announcing their vaccination campaign: #FabJab – it’s time to step up, so we can ALL step out.

The #FabJab campaign acknowledges there there are many that cannot get vaccinated, and that there is real concern and understandable vaccine hesitancy amongst groups within our LGBTIQA+ community.

#FabJab will be an on-going project in which these key community groups will work together to provide resources and information about rainbow friendly vaccination clinics and sites, information regarding vaccine interaction with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) medication and Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PreP) as well as further resources for vaccine hesitant community members.

Working together, these groups hope to serve the intersections and diversity of the rainbow community, so we can all get vaccinated and protect those who can’t.

To kick of a dedicated Rainbow Vaccination Week running from the 18th to the 24th of October, there will be a rainbow friendly Star Health vaccination clinic at the Victorian Pride Centre. The hours of operations for their Victorian Pride Centre branch are:

  • Monday to Wednesday 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Thursday and Friday 12:00pm to 8:00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 10:00 to 6:00pm

To make an appointment for the times above, you can call their Star Health COVID Booking Phone number on 8644 3311 and ask for a FabJab or VPC (Victorian Pride Centre) appointment.  Individual and group bookings can be arranged through this phone number and during the call the registration process in CVMS will occur. Walk-in will be accommodated as well.

Across the week, we will be sharing LGBTIQA+ friendly vaccination sites to help us all get vaccinated.

The #FabJab website will be a hub of information and resources that will be in on-going development as vaccination information grows and becomes available. Find out more info at joy.org.au/fabjab.
