Sci Fi and Squeam regular Saara Lamberg is on BROAD for the first time! She talks to Sonja and Jacqui about working in the film industry and the impact that programs like Gender Matters can have. Saara is directing an upcoming Made In Melbourne film called Half, which is currently in production. You can also see her other films Innuendo,  Candy Cravings and Finding No at the Connect Film Festival later in October.

Earlier in the week Sonja interviewed feminist writer Clementine Ford about her new book Fight Like A Girl, which was released just this week. The full interview is here, and it’s worth a listen – there was so much great material that we didn’t have time to play on air! Like all of Clementine’s work, Fight Like a Girl has sparked praise, controversy, and some really important discussions about feminism and the ways that society mistreats women and girls.

Sonja also interviewed Jess and Ema from new wave keys punk band Hi-Tec Emotions. Here’s the podcast of the full interview. They’ll be at Listen Conference next week, and their new album Hard to Handle drops in November!

Songs played include Look Around by Hi-Tec Emotions; and A Phone I Can’t Use and the as yet unreleased Smiling Song by Rachel Maria Cox. You can find RMC’s music on Bandcamp and Unearthed! You can also listen to an interview they did with Sonja about last week’s Sad Grrrls Fest here.
