The Chicks broadcast LIVE on Joy at the AFLW Pride Game between the Bulldogs and Carlton at Whitten Oval. A crowd of 9600 turned up with many wearing their rainbows, the players wore Pride Guernseys (Darcey wore a mouth guard with the transgender colours), the umpires waved rainbow flags and we all celebrated Pride together at the footy.
We chatted to some of the pioneers of women’s football and LGBTIQA+ inclusion – Kate O’Halloran from Triple R, Debbie Lee from the Western Bulldogs AFLW, Susan Alberti, Dr. Bridie O’Donnell – Office of Women in Sport , Michelle Redfern, Hannah Scott from Western Bulldogs AFLW, Bri Davey from Carlton AFLW, Nicole Livingstone Head of Women’s Football AFL and more.
