Let’s Play!

For those who don’t know, a ‘Let’s Play’ is when you watch somebody stream footage of a video game while they are playing it, and usually provide commentary for it as well! Some of these people actually make a whole lot of money from doing this, so we break down what we think about the trend and discuss whether we think it’s great, or stupid!

Josh from Game Boys pops in to talk about his comedy festival show ‘Free to Play’, and hangs out in studio with us to discuss the topic as well!

Rhythm Games!

This week, Luke is joined by Tom, Meags and Ronnie to talk all about Rhythm games! That’s right, Rock Band, Patapon, Dance Dance Revolution… if you have to tap some sort of button in time with the beat to try and get that elusive high score, that’s what we’re all about! With Guitar Hero in particular taking the world by storm back in 2004, we talk about our favourite music based games since then, along with some that came out in the late 90s that you might remember if you’re feeling nostalgic!

Also on the show, Luke was up in Cairns this week at the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum to see Wargaming present an Australian WWII tank, the AC1 Sentinel, to be kept at the museum after being refurbished. Luke had a chance to talk with Nicholas Moran, Director of Militaria Relations for Wargaming America, all about what it means to Wargaming and also how relevant historical accuracy is to video games!

You’ll also be treated to two reviews – Ronnie’s final verdict on Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and Luke getting his ultimate fighting on with EA Sports UFC 2. Don’t miss any of the fun!

GX Australia!

This week on the show, Archer and Luke are back in town to talk about all things GX Australia! They were in Sydney last weekend taking part in the expo for its Australian debut, so Viv is on hand with the boys to talk about GX, discuss it’s viability as a gaming expo moving forward and talk about some of the highlights.

Archer also got the chance to sit down and talk with David Gaider, formerly from everybody’s favourite studio when it comes to diversity, Bioware. He is known for his strong cast of diverse characters and carefully executed discussions around sexuality. Listen to a snippet of the interview on this episode where David talks about his experience with GX Australia and also shares with us his tales about amazing voice actor Claudia Black.

While in Sydney, Luke had a chance to spend a whopping 4 hours with the highly anticipated Dark Souls 3, so he gives the rundown on how the game is shaping up and whether or not it’s going to be as great as everybody thinks it will be.

Last but not least, we have FOUR, that’s right FOUR reviews for you on this episode! Luke has had his time split between kicking some serious butt in Street Fighter V and riding woolly mammoths through the prehistoric jungle in Far Cry: Primal! JRPG’s!

This week on the show, Luke, Fin and Viv talk about one of their absolute favourite gaming genres… JRPGs! Or, Japanese Role Playing Game for those playing at home. We talk about our favourite games and discuss what sort of things define the way a JRPG plays compared to a Western RPG, and also talk about the things we love about ’em and some of the things that we don’t love about ’em. We also take you through the news of the week including the return of a certain popular bandicoot to gaming?

To cap it all off, we have three big JRPG reviews on the show for you as well! Viv spends her time dungeon crawling in Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight, Fin has been grinding and battling as much as he can possibly take in Legend of Legacy and Luke has gone back to school to fight mythical creatures hiding behind campus in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel! Did we tell you that JRPG’s also tend to have long names? They tend to have long names.

Last Gen Retrospective

We talk about what made them innovative, what they did for the gaming industry and reflect very lovingly on some of the amazing game franchises that were created and made into legend – so tune in and get nostalgic!

Also this week, Tom has been defending the humans the best way he knows how by going toe-to-toe with the aliens in XCOM 2, Luke has a new lovable friend that he just thinks is the darn cutest as he delivers the verdict on Unravel and we also get the lowdown on formerly-free-but-pay-to-play-sort-of-and-now-a-retail-release Nintendo 3DS game Pokemon Rumble World! Getting Glitchy

Luke’s entire beard disappeared and started moving around the room while Viv completely fell through the floor and into a strange dimension full of pixels and debris! Also, Luke had the chance to go to Sydney and spend time with the crew from Wargaming.net, including Lead Game Designer of World of Tanks for PS4, Jeff Gregg! The interview is here on this episode, as Jeff talks about what it’s like to work on a franchise like Wargaming and also how the transition has been coming from PC to console.

Online Gaming Attitude

This week on the show, Luke, Kev and Meags are on board to talk all about their experiences and thoughts surrounding online gaming communities – specifically, the communities that often have a bad reputation when it comes to competitive gaming like Call of Duty. We all love to play these games and the multiplayer components are always growing bigger and bigger, so it’s unfortunate when there are times that we genuinely don’t feel like playing them simply because we are cautious about being abused by somebody on the other side of the world. Not all gamers are abusive of course, and not everyone is insulting, so where do we draw the line? Is there anything we can do to prevent this kind of behavior? How does it impact us from the LGBT community specifically?

Also this week, Meags delivers her final verdict on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Luke gets scared half to death playing Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water and Kev has been testing out his cooperative side with The Legend of Zelda: Triforce Heroes!

To cap it off, we talk about the news of the week including Sony’s PS2 backwards compatibility on the PS4 and a game that is so awful that the developers are removing it from stores and even going as far to refund their customers who purchased it in the first place!

Fallout vs Tomb Raider!
