I wanna be that G.U.Y.

Careers, Visual Arts

I wanna be that G.U.Y.
On this week’s DTF Club on Joy 94.9 William Brougham interviews Sydney-based artist Guy James Whitworth at his home in Surry Hills.
The Sydney Star Observer called his last exhibition “An absolute must see”, Mardi Gras once christened him “the poster boy for the Sydney queer art scene” and Magda Sabanski called him an “evil genius” on SBS.
Re-occurring themes in his artwork are celebrating diversity and the positive visual representation of the LGBTQI community, challenging ageism, racism, gender stereotypes, sexual identity, transphobia, community isolation and the taking of something ‘everyday’ and presenting it in a way that heightens its relevance.
