David & Sue talk to Jude Munro who is Chair of the Board for the Victorian Pride Centre which is currently being built down in Fitzroy St, St Kilda. She talks about progress so far, plans for the centre and some of the contributors that are making it happen and about an event that is to be held on Friday, 28 June, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm named “A Celebration of Pride“. You can get tickets at the Victorian Pride Centre site and make sure you also check out their new listing of LGBTIQA+ events around Victoria. Cost is a nominal $5. A Celebration of Pride is an event to celebrate the progress made to date in building Australia’s first LGBTIQ focused community hub. An iconic building that will house a range of LGBTIQ organisations, services and supports. It will be a very visible and powerful statement of our resilience, strength and diversity. They’ll also be acknowledging the 50th Anniversary of Stonewall and stand with our national and international community in recognising the past, how far we’ve come and our hopes for the future. You can also meet members of the VPC Board and staff team, hear stories of resilience and help us launch our ‘Name the Crane’ competition. They’ll provide the nibbles, a few pride tunes and friendly space, you bring your vibrancy and pride.

The Victorian Pride Centre is a unique initiative that celebrates, bolsters and protects equality, diversity and inclusion. It is set to forge a new chapter in the narrative of Australian Pride by bringing the LGBTI community together in a single and powerful space. The Victorian Pride Centre will be home to a range of LGBTIQ focused organisations, along with businesses who support the LGBTIQ community.
