We’re going back to our ROOTS for Radiothon 2018!

Can you believe it? 25 years of JOY! We’re flashing back to 1993, and exploring the ghosts of gay sex past in our Radiothon 2018 special edition of Hide and Seek!

Remember those long lost bars, backrooms, and circuit parties? It’s time to remember (what we can) from 25 years of gay history and 25 years of JOY

Time to go back, way back, back into time…

We’ve got some history buffs joining us on this week’s Hide and Seek. The entire Hide and Seek team are in the studio, along with Nick Henderson from the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives (ALGA) to chat about dildo molds, storing sauna pool water in jars, and critiquing and reviewing back rooms…no really.

We also have DJ Magnuus – stalwart Melbourne DJ who has played at some BIG clubs and events, like Midsumma, Mardi Gras, Daywash, ARQ, and the GH… to name but a few. We cast back to the days of Raw Hide, Hellfire parties, and the infamous ALSO NYE party.

JOY first went to air on World AIDS Day (December 1st) 1993, so it was important to the Hide and Seek team to reflect positive voices and expereinces. Dimitri, who has been living with HIV since before JOY first went to air – discusses his diagnosis, losing friends, and how far we’ve come in treating and preventing HIV.
