We talk about what botany actually is, plus why carnivorous plants are his area of expertise. We also chat about what inspired him to study plants from a very young age, and how being out in the field is exceptionally interesting and sometimes dangerous. Plus how working at the Botanic Gardens has been a very rewarding experience.

Cason Crane: Mountaineering

Cason Crane was the first openly LGBTQIA+ mountaineer to climb the world’s Seven Summits, he did so while raising money for the Trevor Foundation, an LGBTQIA+ suicide prevention organisation. Emily finds out not only what it takes emotionally and physically to climb such huge mountains, but also how sometimes in failure we find success.
