Art & Artful

This week, Jim, James and Claire are the studio without Steph, who’s away in Bangkok.

To replace her, the crew has Ester Antolitis, director of Regional Arts Victoria, on board; with a special announcement for art projects in rural towns across Victoria. Esther is then asked about the boundaries of art, what exactly is an art piece and the effects of cutting down on the Art Minister’s budget.

Jeff McMullen, doyen of political and foreign journalism in Australia, is brought on give his thoughts on the proposal to slash art funding and how to reverse this move.

Finally, Esther and Jeff are asked about the difference between a Minister announcing cuts and propaganda that says we don’t need art, with some dubious implications.

Aired on 11th of October, 2015.
