The Barbie Movie – What’s really behind it?

The Barbie movie is the talk of the town right now, pulling in (AUD) $560m on its opening weekend, making it the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman. It’s been lauded for its themes of empowerment, and of loving all of yourself.

But, Barbie is a very well established multi-billion dollar brand beloved for decades, so what’s really going on?
