Calling out elder abuse

Elder abuse is everybody’s business,  and last month Respect Victoria launched a new family violence prevention campaign joining the fight against elder abuse,

The Commissioner for Senior Victorians, Gerard Monsour joined Robbie and Dean on MAD Wednesdays to talk about what elder abuse means, and how we can, and should call it out when we see it.

Elder abuse may be physical, sexual, financial, psychological, social and/or neglect, and can occur in aged care facilities and nursing homes or even in your own home.

Keeping elderly people connected to their communities is a great way to change the narrative and stigma around ageing. in our LGBTI communities we have two great programs that engage and elevate our elders, Out and About by Switchboard and the LGBTI+ Elders Dance Club by All the Queens Men.
