Renee from Tomboy who host an exclusive space for queer women and their LGBTIQ+ friends to come and party joined Robbie and Dean on MAD Wednesday to talk about their latests workshop, on empowered communicating their boundaries in platonic and intimate settings

Tomboy recognises that connecting our community has many elements and this workshop for queer (LGBTIQ) women and non-binary folk intends to help participants understand that boundaries and consent are intertwined. Empowering you to practice the skills you learn about boundaries and consent into all aspects of your life.

Specific examples of places you need boundaries and consent are EVERYWHERE. But some of the areas you might want to apply them to, could be love, sex, relationships, poly / non monogamous dynamics, the workplace, family, kink, social play and then some!

The workshop takes place on 30th November, it goes for 3 hours and the venue in Brunswick is fully wheelchair accessible.

The Equality Project launched the third national LGBTIQ+ Conference, Better Together, taking place in Melbourne at Williamstown Town Hall on 10-11th January 2020.

Dean from MAD Wednesdays spoke to Jason Tuazon-McCheyne at the launch about why the conference and the conversations that take place and stem from it are so important.

It’s not about having all the answers, but creating the space to ask questions and have discussions. The goal is to create a truly intersectional discussion about achieving meaningful social change.

Through this we can create a fairer, more equal and more just Australia through a national conference called Better Together.

Registrations & scholarships are now open to be a part of Better Together 2020, as is the opportunity to propose a session to take place during the weekend.

Find out more details here.

We don’t have all the answers but we are creating a space to ask the questions.

Better Together is our national conference.

In order to facilitate a conversation about LGBTIQ+ rights in Australia we need to have a platform to share our ideas and experiences and ask the hard questions about how we can move forward and tackle what’s important, this conference is a space for our voices to be heard.

Jason Tuazon McCheyne from The Equality Project joined Leasa & Dean on MAD Wednesdays to talk about the conference, happening in Sydney at the University of Technology Sydney, Aerial UTS Function Centre, on Friday 11th to Saturday 12th January 2019.

The conference aims to explore current issues facing the LGBTIQ+ movement, bringing together voices from indigenous communities, people with a disability, the Deaf community, as well as multicultural and multi-faith communities. Creating a truly intersectional discussion about achieving meaningful social change to create a fairer, more equal and more just Australia.

You can check out the full conference schedule here.

HIV prevention is changing, and there are more effective ways to protect your sexual health than ever before, but we need to be informed. In the big smoke it’s easy to get the support and information you need, but in regional Victoria it’s not so easy.

Michael Whelan from PrEP Access Now (PAN) joined Robbie & Dean on MAD Wednesday to let listeners know about community forums that are giving people in regional Victoria an opportunity to engage with advocates, experts, and clinicians about access to HIV prevention tools and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) as part of a family of options, like condoms, regular testing, and treatment.

The first session is taking place in Bendigo at La Trobe Art Institute on Thursday October 18th, find out more here.

The next session is at Gotafe in Shepparton on Friday November 2nd, find out more here.

Not sure about PrEP? What about side effects? How do you get started?

At the PrEPare for PrEP forum, a panel of sexperts will help answer your questions about PrEP – and help support making to choice that’s right for you when it comes to YOUR sexual health.

With the Ruddock Religious Freedom Review Report not yet public and just the leaked comments in The Age (October 10, 2018) and only commentary from the Guardian and ABC to go on, it is clear to many of us that there are many more questions than answers at this stage.

On Thursday 18th October a community forum in Melbourne to get everyone on the same page to understand what we are up against. Felicity Marlowe from Rainbow Families Victoria joined Dean & Robbie on MAD Wednesday to give us a breakdown of what we can expect from the forum and to discuss why we need to come together.
With the Victorian state election on November 24 and the federal election due sometime before May 2019, it is time to get informed, organised and active!

This community meeting is an opportunity to bring your questions, concerns and ideas. This will be an action meeting. Find out more details here.
