New music to weekdays (18 July 2018)

New music additions

Calum Scott What I Miss Most (EMI)
Galantis ft MAX Satisfied (ATL/WMA)
Tyron Hapi ft Laurell About You (TEAMWRK)
Oliver Nelson ft Linae Talk (NEON / PERFECT HAVOC)
Tobtok & Ghassemi ft ONIVA Too Cool to Dance (NEON / PERFECT HAVOC)

It might be cold, wet and miserable outside, but Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix will keep you toasty with these additions for the week.

It’s taken a while, but out-and-proud singer Calum Scott has finally made the mix. The Englishman had major success in Australia when his 2016 debut, Dancing on My Own, peaked at #2 on the chart and was certified six-times platinum. ‘What I Miss Most’ is the fourth single from his debut album Only Human, and comes on the heels of an appearance on The Voice and ahead of a national tour in October. It’s a rousing, anthemic pop song with a strong summery pulse and enough light and shade to satisfy the moodiest of listeners. The music video will get your tear ducts lubricated with its tale of young love lost and the search for what matters.

Melburnian Tyron Hapi has been churning out hits over the past 12 months, and he certainly hasn’t let his standards drop with his newest. Featuring the vocals of Canadian singer Laurell, ‘About You’ is an up-tempo version of that break-up song about someone who can’t deal with having their heart destroyed. The subject of the song might be mourning at home with a glass of wine and Bridget Jones’s Diary, but you’ll be up and dancing instead. It’s another stroke of songwriting genius for this up-and-coming local lad.

Swedish artists round out the list of additions this week. It seems that production duo Galantis can do no wrong, delivering another banger in Satisfied. This one features American singer MAX alongside some very bouncy rhythms and perfectly timed handclaps. We think ‘Satisfied’ will be the ear worm that you’ll have trouble getting rid of! Producer, drummer and DJ Oliver Nelson teams up with Linae for some disco-funk in ‘Talk’. Its guitar licks and smooth vocals will get you salivating and have you hungry for more. Producer Tobtok rounds out the Swedish triple with his brand-new single, ‘Too Cool to Dance’. We don’t think anyone is ever too cool to dance, and producers Ghassemi and ONIVA show off their moves to make this song too hard to not dance to!
