There’s a bumper list of new tunes to Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix this week.

Who ever thought the ABBA and Cher worlds would collide? The success of the latest Mamma Mia movie has led the singing legend to record her own album of ABBA covers. The first from the new album, out next month, is Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) and it has all the hallmarks of a Cher hit. Produced by Mark Taylor, the man behind Believe, it has all the autotune and disco glitz that you’d expect from Cher. How could we not give it a spin on JOY?

Aussie singer Wafia debuted in JOY’s daytime mix last year with her gem Bodies. She has something new, and golly it’s good. It might be about a past relationship, but ‘I’m Good’ celebrates the realisation that sometimes getting out of a relationship is actually the best solution. This is bound to have you feeling good after the first listen.

LSD is a musical project by Labrinth, Sia and Diplo. They dropped their first single, Genius, back in May to everyone’s surprise, and we’ve been waiting for a poppier sound from the trio. Cue the big band and some big vocals from Sia and you’ve got ‘Thunderclouds’. After a couple of listens we think you’ll be whistling along.

Sam Weaver, Jack Weaver and Alex Bornos are Bell City Square, and the Melbourne-based trio have just released their debut single. ‘Make Me Feel Nothing’ is a pop-dance bop that channels all the best bits of those big-sounding pop-rock bands of the late 90s, Aussie indie noughties vocals and today’s synthy dance sounds. This is a big debut. We’re looking forward to what’s to come.

Nothing beats some vocal house to lift the spirits, and Aussie-via-New-Zealand Jolyon Petch doesn’t disappoint. ‘Make a Move’ sees the DJ-producer deliver a stabbing bass line with a fresh vibe ready for summer. We reckon you’ll be making the moves when you hear this one.

The dancing continues with some big releases from international artists. British DJ Junior J puts his tropical spin on a Jackson 5 classic with ‘Back in Your Heart’, and American electro-house producer Morgan Page adds to his long list of singles with Let You Go. The summer love continues thanks to Moldovan DJ-producer Andrew Rayel, who teams up with Garibay and Jake Torrey for a chilled new sound in Last Summer.

Out-and-proud Aussie singer Peter Wilson loved Estonia’s Eurovision entry so much last year that he had to cover it. Sean Smith steps in to help turn the male-female duet into one between two men, giving ‘Verona’ a different feel. Add to that the fresh-sounding 80s remix and you’ve got a bop that we think you’ll get lost in.

As P!NK continues her mega Aussie tour, we’ve enlisted the help of out-and-proud DJ Suri and his mate Chris Daniel to give her latest single a bit of afternoon pep. ‘Secrets’ gets the circuit treatment to give the tail-end of your work day a much-needed boost.
