We’re out, loud and proud about the new music you’re hearing in Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix this week.

It’s been a big week for Ariana Grande – her fourth album, Sweetener, debuted at #1 on the ARIA album chart and five of its singles are in the top 50. The third single from the album is ‘breathin’, which debuted at #8 on the chart. This goes back to Ari’s whispy pop banger beginnings, and we are thankful for it. She employs a simple chorus to hook you in, then ramps up beat and vocals to keep you breathin’ it all in. It’s a winner.

Queer Aussie singer Caitlin Park launched herself into the musical spotlight with Late Night Ball Game last year. Known as HANDSOME, the Sydneysider is due to release her debut EP, No Hat No Play, on 21 September and has just dropped the third single from it. ‘No Cowards’ signals a slight change in musical direction for HANDSOME, bringing in some electro-pop to her repertoire and delivering a track that you’ll subconsciously bop along to.

One of our favourite Aussie boy bands has gifted us a brand new single from their ARIA #1 album. ‘Valentine’ is the follow-up to 5 Seconds of Summer‘s smash hit ‘Youngblood’, and it will take your ears on a very different journey. From its doo-wop beginning to its pop-rock ending, we think you’ll be in love with the boys after listening to this one.

MOZA is Aussie electronic duo Cam Nacson and Toby Chew. They’ve known each since 2014, when they were part of a folk band. However, things changed in 2016, when they started making music together as a duo. Their debut, ‘On the Line’, was noticed by keen electronic music lovers and websites, and their music has been streamed over 25 million times to date. The lads have signed to Universal and delivered some uplifting electronic pop in ‘Right Words’. We think you’ll be saying all the right things with this one.

Four singers got together in 1989 as a doo-wop group called The 4 Trax. Toby, Phil and brothers Andrew and Michael, having known each other in high school, started singing together and landed a contract after performing for Sony’s chairman. Thirty years later, Human Nature‘s 13th studio album, Romance of the Jukebox, has debuted at #2 on the ARIA chart and their 2019 concert tour is selling like hot cakes. Little More Love is the new single, and it’s bound to put a smile on your face.

We’re all counting down for Cher‘s ABBA album, so it makes total sense that the latest single from it, ‘SOS’, gets an addition this week.

Japanese-born and London-raised-and-based pansexual singer Rina Sawayama made her solo debut in 2013. She’s thrown the glitter everywhere with her latest single, ‘Cherry’. It’s full of synthy goodness, with a touch of RnB and a huge helping of banging pop. We reckon it’s a pretty tasty treat for your workday.

All the way from Canada comes DiRTY RADiO, consisting of Shadi and Waspy. The dance-RnB duo are releasing their third studio album later this year, and ‘Pleasures’ is the lead single. They’ve enlisted the support of Perth-born, London-based DJ-producer Jafunk to add some funk and sexiness to this one, which we think will get you in the mood for a summertime disco.

Leony calls for girl power in her second single, ‘Boots’. The German singer digs her heels in with this banger, made for a summer beach party. She also shows off her wide collection of boots in the video, filmed on the Gold Coast and in Byron Bay. It’s an empowering anthem and one that we think will be an enjoyable earworm.

British-German DJ-production duo M-22 get the house shaking with their latest. ‘How Does It Feel’ is sure to transport you to a dance floor with its abundance of bass, keys and uplifting vocals, and sure to get you feeling like you’re on the top of the world.
