10 Oct 2018

New music to weekdays (10 October 2018)

New music additions

Charli XCX & Troye Sivan 1999 (ATL / WMA)
Biond Immortalised (Virtual Project)
Robyn Honey (POD / INERTIA)
Jonas Blue ft Liam Payne & Lennon Stella Polaroid (EMI)
Sophie Francis Weekend Love (SPINNIN)

Even though Charli XCX was a whole seven years old in 1999, she wants to go back there. Jumping in the time machine is Troye Sivan, who has teamed up with the British singer-songwriter for the first time. It’s a timely release for Charli XCX, as she is about to land in Australia for her own sold-out tour while supporting Tay Tay on hers. The 90s might be over, but you’ll be reminiscing too.

Rose Muller is Biond and she has released her debut single. ‘Immortalised’, which is about being haunted by a past love, brings an electro sound to the Melbourne-based singer’s work. We think you’ll enjoy the Lorde-meets-Robyn sound of this one. Biond’s been a major ally of our communities since her best friend (and one of her band members) came out as trans.

In case you hadn’t heard, Swedish singer Robyn has a brand-new album coming out on 26 October. Honey is her eighth studio album and her first in eight years. Its title single is the second to land. With Robyn’s familiar electro-pop feel soaking its way through, ‘Honey’ is bound to get stuck in your head. Don’t miss your opportunity to be one of the first in the world to get the new album stuck in your head by being part of the Honey Listening Party on 25 October.

Jonas Blue found great success with his last song, Rise, but the British DJ isn’t resting on his laurels. He has teamed up with ex-One Directioner Liam Payne and Canadian country singer (and star of TV’s NashvilleLennon Stella to go photo-crazy in Polaroid. Get the camera out and snap all the best moments in the summer sun as you enjoy the tropical feel of this one.

She had her first DJ gig in a small bar in her hometown when she was 15, and now Sophie Francis is taking Europe by storm. The Dutch DJ-producer had chart success in 2016 with Walls, and her brand-new single is on its way to being just as big. The follow-up to the chart-busting Stay Up, ‘Weekend Love’ features a mystery male vocalist and will get you in the mood for a big weekend of loving. Who knows, the song might just bring back a whole heap of good memories when you hear it on Monday morning!
