It’s banger central with this week’s newest to Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix!

Brisbane-born Joseph Da Rin has made quite a mark on the local scene as Young Franco. His 2017 release ‘Miss You’ was a radio smash and he has become a Splendour and Falls favourite. The DJ-producer is back with a funky new track that has been spinning like a top on Triple J. ‘Girls Don’t Cry’ sees Young Franco team up with out-and-proud local singer Maribelle to deliver the goods. We think you’ll love it.

A local debut joins the playlist this week, thanks to Dylan Rass. The Sydney-based singer-songwriter has released ‘Someone Like You’ after a stint in Sweden writing music and then performing to a full house at Sydney’s Metro Theatre. He’s musically mature for his 19 years, and this song should mark the beginning of a big career for a born star.

The Greatest Showman soundtrack has been reworked by a slew of artists, with James Arthur and Anne-Marie currently getting the spotlight for their cover of Rewrite the Stars. We’ve decided to go with another track from the album, covered by JOY favourites Years & Years and Jess Glynne. ‘Come Alive’ is a joyous celebration of life and living, originally sung by Hugh Jackman in the movie but now given a familiar Y&Y twist. We think it will bring a rainbow to your day.

German DJ-producer Robin Schulz has received over 250 gold, platinum and diamond certifications in 30 countries since debuting with Waves in 2014. He has just dropped ‘Speechless’, featuring up-and-coming Finnish singer Erika Sirola, and it’s made to dance to. Check out the video for this banger and you’ll be left speechless too.

His One Direction days are well behind him, and ZAYN has no desire to go back. ‘No Candle No Light’ drops some gritty tropical house in your lap and is sure to be judged as one of 2018’s big bangers. Alongside a singing Nicki Minaj, this one might take a few listens to get used to. Hold on past the first drop and we think you’ll be into it too.

You would be familiar with Jack & Jack thanks to them being the featured artists on Jonas Blue’s hit single Rise. Jack Johnson and Jack Gilinsky are from Los Angeles and are due to release their debut studio album, A Good Friend is Nice, in January. ‘No One Compares to You’ is the lead single from that album. It’s a plucky bop that would sound at home in any respectable hit music playlist.

A couple of big tunes from the Netherlands round out this week’s additions. Bingo Players and Bali Bandits get the party started with ‘Body Rock’, taking you back to the 80s with their disco-funk banger. DJ-producer duo Falco van den Aker and Bob van Ratingen, aka Deepend, soften the energy slightly with ‘Only Love’, a track that has made New Music Friday playlists across Europe. We reckon you’ll be up and dancing once the guitars kick in!
