Happy new year! After a little break, we’re back with a huge range of amazing tunes to get 2019 started with a bang.

Australia’s Betty Who has decided to ditch her label and release her music independently. ‘I Remember’ is the lead single from her forthcoming third studio album, and it’s a banger. It’s the perfect way to get this party started, and we can’t wait to hear more when her album Betty is dropped on 15 February.

Lizzo has been wowing music lovers since releasing Boys last year, and the bops don’t seem to be stopping. The RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 judge has made it part of her mission to celebrate self-love and positive body image, which is brought to the fore in her new single, Juice. Lizzo’s also celebrating her sexuality, telling Teen Vogue that “When it comes to sexuality or gender, I personally don’t ascribe to just one thing. I cannot sit here right now and tell you I’m just one thing.” She’s got all the moves and we reckon you’ll break them out too.

One of our favourite British crooners has dusted off his soul hat and teamed up with an ex-Fifth Harmony member. Out-and-proud Sam Smith wrote ‘Dancing With a Stranger’ while on tour last year. He features Normani on the single and it’s a smooth bop that should work well as we enjoy summer.

Sound the horns: Timmy is back in the house! Australian jazz-musician-turned-DJ Timmy Trumpet has returned to his house roots ahead of a summer tour of Australia’s eastern states. Working alongside American DJ Kastra and house legend Chuck Roberts, Timmy has turned out ‘Wassup (Listen to the Horns)’ and it’s made for a big summer party.

Three-member Aussie band RÜFÜS DU SOL had a big 2018, with their third studio album debuting at #2 on the ARIA album chart. They’ve dropped the fourth single from Solace ahead of embarking on a sold-out Australian tour. ‘Treat You Better’ has RÜFÜS written all over it, with a slow burn into a joyful chorus that we think you’ll love.

If you remember Uptown Girl, You Raise Me Up and When You’re Looking Like That from the start of this century, then you’d be familiar with an Irish boy band who are back after eight years of silence. ‘Hello My Love’ is the lead single from Westlife‘s forthcoming eleventh studio album and is a welcome return to the fold. The four-member group, including out-and-proud Markus Feehily, are stuck in a hot-air balloon in the video, but thankfully they can sing and dance their way out of it. We reckon you’ll be doing the same to get out of your workday rut.

Hot Scot Calvin Harris continues to deliver the bangers, with his follow-up single to Promises promising to be a hit. Featuring the gravelly Rag’N’Bone Man on vocals, ‘Giant’ brings a touch of soul to a master of dance. Can Calvin do no wrong?

Max Styler debuted as a DJ-producer back in 2015, and the Californian has delivered a delight, working with Aussie band The Griswolds, who have been busy making waves in the US, to create ‘Light Me Up’. This is a perfectly uplifting and celebratory story of love and relationships, set to a glorious summer beat. We think you’ll love this collaboration, and we hope for more soon!

Melbourne-based DJ-producer Ryan Riback found worldwide fame thanks to his remix of Starley’s Call on Me and he’s used this fame to his advantage. LA-based singer Ryann features on Riback’s new single, ‘Kinder Eyes’, which has a super-catchy sing-along chorus and just the right amount of summer vibe to keep you dancing. Open your eyes and enjoy it.

The Netherlands keeps pumping out top-quality dance tunes, and many have been released on the Strange Fruits label. The label’s 100th release has dropped, and appropriately, it’s by its owner. Steve Void started making music when he was 15, and his knowledge shows in ‘Closure’. You’ll want to sing along with LA-based singer Andy Marsh when this one blasts through your speakers.

Rounding out the additions this week are some remixes that you’ll hear on weekday afternoons. Aussie producer Division 4 has worked his magic on the song that ARIA crowned Australia’s #1 of 2018 – 5 Seconds of Summer‘s ‘Youngblood’. British duo Alphalove have added some sparkle to ‘1999’, which is still going great guns for Charli XCX and out-and-proud Aussie Troye Sivan.
