Big T Paradise (SCM)

ARTY Save Me Tonight (ARMADA)
Rozalla Turn on the Light (Mr Root Disco Remix Radio Edit) (ENERGISE)

It’s all about the sing-along with the newest to Melbourne’s most uplifting music mix this week.

It may sound familiar and it probably is, but the re-release of Drax Project‘s bop deserves a re-addition to the music mix. Now featuring Hailee Steinfeld, ‘Woke Up Late’ should see some love across commercial radio for the New Zealanders. Let it be known that we’ve loved it since its release last year, and the love continues now.

Adelaide’s GERMEIN might not be a well-known name, but these three sisters have been making waves across the world. Having opened for Little Mix, Phil Collins and Ronan Keating on those artists’ tours, these women know what they’re doing. ‘Red Rover’ is a sing-along bop with enough guitar and drum to have you bouncing on your toes. Georgia, Ella and Clara will be in Melbourne on Friday 22 February for a show full of indie pop-rock and catchy tunes.

Back in 2015, Tangaroa Te Tai, aka Big T, came fourth in The X Factor Australia. He’s been busy performing at a range of events and charity affairs since, and has worked with R U OK? and Johnny Bigg. The New Zealand-born, Perth-based singer has taken some time out of his busy touring schedule to write and perform his debut single. ‘Paradise’ is full of sing-along hooks and energetic guitar lines, and is made for some summer fun.

Jack Wins is a London-based Dutch DJ-producer who you may know from his remix of Jess Glynne’s ‘Thursday’. He’s done something on his own, with the writing help of Ina Wroldsen, in ‘Forever Young’. British singer-songwriter Amy Grace lends her vocals to the track, which is perfect for dancing to.

Hailing from Russia, Arten Stoliarov is ARTY. The DJ-producer has made a name for himself in the club scene and his follow-up to ‘Never Letting Go’ has broken the internet, being streamed over two million times in just two weeks. ‘Save Me Tonight’ is a piece of house magic with a hook that will get stuck in your head and percussion that will have you clapping along.

Everybody’s Free (To Feel Good) peaked at #11 on the ARIA chart back in 1991 for Rozalla. She had some other releases, but nothing reached the same dizzying heights of her big smash. Thankfully there’s something new from the Zimbabwean-born, UK-based singer and it’s bound to blow your disco socks off. Mr Root’s remix of ‘Turn On the Light’ channels 80s synth realness and energy for days. We reckon you’ll be jiving along.
