Welcome to our weekly news bulletin for the gay and lesbian community, broadcast nationally via the Community Radio Network and on JOY 949. News this week includes;

  • The NSW Government has launched a new online anti-bullying resource.
  • A new poll has shown that Australian Christians support same-sex marriage.
  • Homophobic flyers have been put in letterboxes in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
  • Lyle Shelton, of the Australian Christian Lobby, has said he supports a postal plebiscite vote for marriage equality.
  • As part of the new Victorian project during the states Seniors Festival, a group of older lesbian women will hold hands riding the Number 16 tram in Melbourne.
  • The Daily Telegraph has drawn criticism for it’s editors non-apology over last week’s controversial infographic which appeared to place same-sex attraction among young people as a health issue.

In Sport;

  • WNBA Basketballer, Sue Bird, has come out publicly.
  • Conor McGregor has refused to condemn rival, Floyd Mayweather, after he used a homophobic slur against him.
  • Sydney Swans player Nic Newman has opened up about his gay brother Maverick.
