End-Of-Year Recovery

News & Politics, Podcast, Society & Culture

Macca and Pete take us through the post-Christmas recovery in this final installment of Saturday Magazine for 2014. Russell Zimmerman of the Australian Retail Association was thrilled to share the predictions for a bumper festive season of shopping and Brett Guerin from Victoria Police advised us on how to behave in public on New Year’s Eve. Keeping with the emergency services, Steve McGhie from the Ambulance Union gave us some tips to keep safe rather than silly when we welcome 2015 and Terry Ryan from the Bureau of Meteorology had a look at the weather we can look forward to over the New Year.

We revisited a chat Pete Dillon had with mega Aussie band Human Nature and chef Matt Wilkinson from Pope Joan and Mr Wilkinsons gave us some sensible tips for using festive leftovers. Josh Prince, our producer, was at the Boxing Day test and apart from sunburn, it seemed there was much to enjoy as Australia took in India.

Finally, the Reverend Tim Costello, who heads up World Vision, got out of bed early in India to reminisce about the awful tragedy of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami, ten years on.
