Melinda Rich, president & chair of @JOY949 joins us with an announcement:
“I’d like to advise that JOY’s CEO, Tennille Moisel has resigned from her role so that she can focus on her health and well-being.
I want to thank Tennille for the contribution she has made to JOY in the last three years since joining us in April 2016. JOY’s leadership and advocacy for the LGBTIQ community during the marriage equality campaign is but one significant highlight. Our listenership has also expanded considerably, and as of the January 2019 McNair survey we can now boast of 530,000 monthly listeners via our traditional radio broadcast channel, as well as a growing offering via digital radio (DAB+) with a further 34,000 listeners.
The JOY Board want to wish Tennille well and we hope she can return to full health soon. Whatever her future endeavours, we know Tennille will continue to make a contribution to the LGBTIQ community.
JOY Development Director, James Hamilton has been Acting CEO during Tennille’s recent period of leave, and he will continue in this interim role. This will give the JOY operations team stability, which is particularly important with our major Radiothon fundraising period coming up. It’s an exciting and critical time of year for us to ensure our ongoing financial sustainability, and we look forward to seeing our members, sponsors, patrons, supporters and listeners step up to keep JOY ‘out, loud and proud’. The team will be sharing more with you about Radiothon 2019 soon.
The Board will commence a recruiting process for a new CEO in the coming weeks, to ensure we find the right leader to take JOY forward into its next chapter.”
