Alex Aldrich and Joe Coghlan joined Pete and Paul to chat about their upcoming show “Love Me Tinder”. Alex and Joe are two thirds of a group called Trio Of Dips, the other third being Christian Gillett.

This is seriously one of the funniest interviews Paul and I have done. We totally lost the structure of our interview because we were laughing so much at these two highly entertaining individuals. Pete even threw a musical challenge to both Alex and Joe and they certainly didn’t disappoint.

” Love Me Tinder” explores the modern world of online dating which can be a confusing and absurd place. From obsessive stalkers to kinky fetishes it can be difficult to find one’s true love.

Join the Trio of Dips as they brave this new frontier and try to navigate their hilariously disastrous love lives through musical theatre classics, operetta gems, and pop power ballads.

Alex, Joe and Christian have very kindly donated two double passes to Love Me Tinder for our Radiothon show next Saturday. Any new or renewed memberships during our show next Saturday 18 May will be eligible to go into the draw to win these tickets. We really appreciate Alex, Joe and Christian’s support.

Love Me Tinder is on at The Butterfly Club from Monday 20 May to Saturday 25 May and 8.30pm

Tickets are available through https://thebutterflyclub.com/show/trio-of-dips-love-me-tinder-2019

Josh Sanders joined  Pete and Paul to chat about his upcoming show at Chapel Off Chapel called ‘Sugarbabies’, which is a boylesque revue that delves into the world of the sugar daddy/sugar baby phenomenon.

The stunning Ziegfeld Boys tell the story of two sugarbabies who are on a quest to find their sugar daddies and the lavish lifestyle that comes with them. The show is a brilliant blend of old world burlesque, musical theatre and clever comedy, dusted with plenty of glitz and sparkle.

It features gender swaps of some of the sexiest songs of the 20th Century, including ‘Big Spender’, ‘Diamonds are a Girl’s (Boy’s) Best Friend’, ‘My Heart Belongs to Daddy’, and many more! Not suitable for those who don’t want to see gorgeous boys showing plenty of skin!

Josh was a fun interview and pretty sure that will transfer on stage.

Josh very kindly donated two double passes to Sugarbabies for our Radiothon show next Saturday. Any new or renewed memberships during our show next Saturday 18 May will be eligible to go into the draw to win these tickets. We really appreciate Josh’s support.

Rob joined Pete and Dylan on Saturday Sessions to chat about the latest Circus Oz offering “Wunderage” and to chat about his background and how he became the Artistic Director of the iconic Circus Oz brand.

Circus Oz and Company 2 will create a mesmerising world this June with the world premiere of Wunderage – an astonishing spectacle told through breathtaking physical feats, heart-stirring live music and honest humour.
Circus Oz Artistic Director, Rob Tannion, explains that Wunderage is an offbeat promenade performance that lets the audience immerse themselves in the show itself.
“This show invites people to explore and be adventurous – especially as there are no seats that often create a barrier to the performance. We want our audience to step into the unknown with us and just wonder,” said Tannion.
Wunderage is that latest collaboration between two Australian contemporary circus companies who invite people to dream, wonder and roam as the fantasy unfolds throughout the iconic Meat Market space in North Melbourne.
Humanity, courage and fragility will be on display and suspended on a series of tight wires that intersect the space and elevated up to four metres.

The tightrope between who we are and who we might become

Wunderage season runs from 20-30 June at The Meat Market in North Melbourne

It was an absolute delight to have Phoebe Panaretos and Mat Verevis in studio today to chat about the upcoming musical theatre blockbuster ” Lazarus”

Lazarus was the final project of David Bowie. First staged in New York in late 2015, Lazarus has enjoyed sell out seasons in New York and London. This will be the Australian premiere of the ground-breaking musical.

Featuring 18 David Bowie songs including ChangesHeroes and Absolute BeginnersLazarus is inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth by Walter Tevis – and the movie which also starred David Bowie. The story focuses on Thomas Newton, an alien, as he remains on earth, unable to die. We follow him during the course of a few days where the arrival of another lost soul might finally set him free.

The “Brilliant” (The Age) Chris Ryan, whose performance as Monty Navarro in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder wowed Melbourne last year, takes on the lead role of Newton. Iconic singer iOTA also joins the cast in the role of Valentine. The distinguished creative team is headed by Director Michael Kantor and Musical Director Jethro Woodward.

Critics called Lazarus “A must see” (Daily Mirror)“Wild, fantastical, eye-popping” (Rolling Stone), “A spectacular Bowie fantasy” (The Guardian)and “David Bowie’s parting gift to the world” (The Independent).

Lazarus is on at The Playhouse Theatre at The Arts Centre from 18 May to 19 June 2019.

Tickets are available through https://www.artscentremelbourne.com.au/whats-on/2019/seasons/tpc/lazarus

David Bowie is like the gift that keeps on giving…. Lazarus promises to be one of the most unique, unforgettable theatre experiences ever staged in Melbourne!!

It was an absolute delight to have Gavin Campbell in to talk about Yothu Yindi’s The Treaty Project and to be given to opportunity to play Mabo on air – one of the very first times it has been played on air having been released the day before.

Yothu Yindi & The Treaty Project was initially launched in 2017 to celebrate the release of the 25th anniversary remix of Yothu Yindi’s timeless hit Treaty and raise awareness for the need for treaty with Australia’s First Nations people.

As shown by Yothu Yindi’s success in the 1990’s, Indigenous music, song and dance are powerful tools of protest. The current national conversation surrounding Indigenous affairs and recent wave of new generation artists keeping the message and culture alive – such as A.B. Original, Baker Boy, Kardajala Kirridarra, Electric Fields and the recent successful reformation tour of Midnight Oil, stalwart supporters of the cause – have made it clear that now is the time for this iconic outfit to renew their involvement in that protest.

Including brand new material in this new, electronica-driven formation, founding members of Yothu YindiWitiyana Marika, Stu Kellaway and Kevin Malngay Yunupingu – are joined onstage by former band members and popular Indigenous singer / songwriters. The group also features cabaret artist Kamahi Djordon King and emerging Yolngu singers, Yirrnga Yunupingu and Yimala Gurruwiwi along with special guest Shane Howard, Emma Donovan and more to be announced. Rounding out the line-up is multi-instrumentalist and current musical director of Circus Oz, Ania Reynolds, Stu Kellaway’s son Roy Kellaway on guitar, along with DJ / producer Gavin Campbell on additional percussion and the Toraiz SP-16 sampler.

This unique, bespoke ensemble has brought the wide appeal of ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Yothu Yindi, reunited with their long time Treaty remix collaborator, Gavin Campbell of production outfit Filthy Lucre, to a diverse array of festivals and events, including Survival Day 2019 concerts (at Parramatta Park and the national ABC TV broadcast at Circular Quay), Strawberry Fields Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Homeground at Sydney Opera House, NAIDOC Week in Kalgoorlie, Gulf Country Frontier Days Festival, Enmore Theatre and Croxton Bandroom, as well as  their memorable performance of Treaty at the Closing Ceremony of the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.

Yirramboi means tomorrow in the shared languages of the Boon Wurrung and Woi Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nations. YIRRAMBOI is Melbourne’s premier biennial First Peoples festival celebrating the vibrant living cultures and diverse contemporary practices of First Nations creatives. The full program will be launched in March 2019.

Frankie and Madeleine joined Pete and Paul to chat about their show “The Perception Experiment” which is part of the Dance Massive festival in Melbourne. The Perception Experiment promises to be an truly unique immersive dance/theatre experience.

From the moment you enter the theatre, The Perception Experiment challenges the way you experience a live dance performance. With senses heightened, what you see, hear and feel may not be what you expected.

Choreographers Frankie Snowdon and Madeleine Krenek invite you to explore time and space as they combine elements of dance, sound and salt in a performance inspired by and created in the Australian desert. Through provocative sensory immersion, The Perception Experiment examines our experience of the physical world, blurring its edges and offering an alternative view of how we might navigate through it.

The show runs from Tuesday 12 March through to Saturday 16 March at The Arts House in North Melbourne.

Multi-award winning writer and performer Emma Hall joined Pete and Paul to chat about Australian premiere of her latest work, World Problems.

Written between the Netherlands and Australia, World Problems is a somewhat funny, slightly bizarre depiction of our monolithic, interconnected world.

“I wanted to write a science fiction about the future and ended up writing a true story about the past. The piece is inspired by German historian and philosopher Oswald Spengler, ecofeminist cyborg aficionado Donna Haraway and the multi-million-billion-trillion lifeforms living and dying together in our biosphere,” said Emma.

Each night, we build a world. Each night, we start again from scratch.

A preview of the show is on 13 March with the season running from 14-24 March at 45 Downstairs, 45 Flinders Lane Melbourne. Show time is at 7.30pm.

Caroline Meaden and Alice Dixon joined Pete and Dylan to chat about their upcoming Dance Massive show “Lady Example” Dance Massive is Australia’s largest contemporary dance festival and runs for 2 weeks in Melbourne from 12-24 March 2019. Caroline and Alice have known each other for over 10 years and “Lady Example” has been a labour of love for them and William McBride, taking two and a half years to develop.

With an ensemble of collaborating artists, Lady Example undertakes a deranged and exquisite stock-take of our histories and mythologies to propose a litany of new, glorious, shuddering worlds. Combining contemporary dance and theatre, this shimmering and mischievous performance considers the historical and contemporary feminine – on our stages, on our screens and in the performance of everyday life – and explores with poignancy and wit the lady examples that made us, and the lady examples we are making still.

Lady Example runs from Tuesday 19 March to Sunday 24 March 2019 at Meat Market in North Melbourne.

Steven and Saturday Session co-host Paul joined Pete and Dylan on the phone from Sydney to chat about Steven’s show ” Confessions Of A Mormon Boy”

“Before The Book of Mormon there was a Mormon Boy!”

The international one-man sensation Confessions of a Mormon Boy comes to Australia!

This transformational true story of extremes–from perfect Mormon Boy in Utah to perfect Rent Boy in Manhattan–is told with humor, song, and unflinching honesty as outcast Oxy-Mormon and Outer Critics Circle Award Nominee, Steven Fales, ultimately finds a middle ground and learns what it means to finally come home. Based on original off-Broadway direction by Tony Award-winner Jack Hofsiss (The Elephant Man), this critically acclaimed 90-minute solo play has educated and entertained audiences across the US and around the world.

After conversion therapy, excommunication, divorce, prostitution and drugs, an exiled sixth-generation Latter Gay Saint reclaims his kids and Donny Osmond smile. This extraordinary, life-affirming journey to hell and back is now Part One in Mormon Boy Trilogy.

Confessions Of A Mormon Boy is on at Chapel Off Chapel 6-8 March 2019 from 7.30pm
