Melbourne WebFest 2016 with John Cabrera

Sonja Hammer talks with John Cabrera AKA Brian Fuller from Gilmore Girls and the creator of the pioneering web series H+ a series which touches on the subject of transhumanism and has been described as “the official embracement of the web series as a viable creative alternative to films and television.” John is in Melbourne this weekend to present a speech about community as it relates to content in series on the web and “pitching media”at the one and only Melbourne Webfest 2016 from July 1st to the 3rd.

In this interview John talks about a lot of things from the importance of communities online and how essential engagement is to make web series, to chatting about Gilmore Girls and the upcoming reunion/return of this iconic popular TV show,to the Potter World of JK Rowling and it’s success and reflection of community…and the WANDS and John’s experience at The Wizarding World ( Harry Potter theme park).

At Melbourne Web Fest 2016 : John Cabrera has worked for over a decade as a writer, producer, director, and actor at the Hollywood studio level, as well as across a range of newly renovated and brand new areas of the Entertainment Industry. He was a member of the supporting cast of NBC’s Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and The CW’s Gilmore Girls.

In 2006, Cabrera shifted his focus exclusively towards writing, producing and directing and was a finalist in NBC’s director in training program that same year. He went on to co-create the award winning series H+: The Digital Series, which was developed at Warner Brothers under the guidance of Bryan Singer and his team of producers at Bad Hat Harry Productions.
Since then, Cabrera has worked with a variety of studios and media companies under his brand moniker, Unboiled, developing projects for both traditional and digital mediums.

H+ new episodes were released every week on Wednesdays until the season finale on January 16, 2013. A second season was announced in January 2013. However, there have been no updates since. (Hopefully one day there will be a revisit of this groundbreaking web series).
