Goldstone is :‘filled with the hardened faces of those extracting “the colour” from the earth, are evidence of post-colonial exploitation. Aboriginals “civilised” in western clothing; Chinese migrants being used as cheap labour. The red dirt blankets the foundations of modern Australian civilisation: gold, exploitation and invasion. Goldstone is the battleground for Australia’s soul.’ Excerpt from review by Blake Howard from the Daily Review.

‘Goldstone is thrilling. Goldstone is moving. Goldstone is unforgettable. Ivan Sen and Aaron Pedersen’s Jay Swan are the indigenous cinematic heroes we deserve.’

‘Sen’s films have been so successful a new term has been coined to describe them: “outback noir”. But for this Indigenous director – also the films’ writer, composer, editor and cinematographer – the point is to use film’s ability to draw audiences to issues like racism, human trafficking and corruption. Issues they might not otherwise be aware of or think to care about.’ Excerpt from Broadsheet .
