An A+ film, a new cooking show, Iago and the Titanic

Arts, Comedy, Music, Performing Arts, TV & Film

Brendan & David discuss the film While We Were Young about an older couple who reassess their lives after meeting a younger couple.

David tells us about a new cooking show Who’s on the Menu? hosted by him and Sue from Friday Drive which is a fundraiser for Bent TV and JOY. It will be filmed at Eureka Hotel on 18 May, 1 and 15 June and involves a 2-course gourmet meal, champagne and performance. For tickets go to stickytickets.com.au.

Today our hosts interview:

Achai and Piper from The Edge Ensemble which is part of Western Edge Youth Arts. They talk about their ensemble and their play, Iago, which is a re-imagined, modern take on Shakespeare’s Othello. It’s set in a gym, uses modern language and draws attention to issues like masculinity, race, racism, misogyny and violence. Showing at The Malthouse 7 to 9 May.

Performers Amanda Goode and Jess Leadbeatter talk about their background and their new production called Lifeboat, a musical comedy about the Titanic! They wrote the script and lyrics, and they play 13 different characters. It’s on at Club Voltaire 14 Raglan Street, North Melbourne on Fri, Sat & Sun– 8 to 24 May and they also will be taking it to the Melbourne Fringe Festival. To book go to trybooking.com/hmyo.
