Melbourne International Comedy Festival: Size Queens, The Worst Little Warehouse in London, and Taranoia

The first of our interviews for the 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, we talk to creatives from three of the acts hitting Melbourne soon:

Frankie Valentine & Miss Jane Doe: Size Queens (9:00)

A show of flesh, s*x, profanity and comedy chaos, this all-girl cast will take you on an exploration of the female form in all its glory. Smashing down the paradigms of womanhood, BGB is equal parts striptease, comedy and socio-political experiment.

Lala Barlow & Robbie Smith: The Worst Little Warehouse in London (26:00)

When 12 people live under the same roof in a converted warehouse in North London, what could possibly go wrong? Winner of Best Cabaret (Adelaide Fringe Weekly), Lala Barlow and Robbie Smith are two wide eyed koalas fresh off the boat, looking for the perfect place to call home.

Tara Leigh Dowler: Taranoia (40:00)

When Tara’s GP made jokes about her anxiety, she decided that if anyone was going to trivialise her mental illness it should be her. A new folk-rock comedy-cabaret about the peculiarities of anxiety, taking responsibility for your shit and the hard work of a happy home. Taranoia is chock-full of original, ear-wormy bangers and rock ‘n’ roll charisma, chronicling too many trips to the emergency room.

Music includes: Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall In Love) (Alanis Morrisette), Festival (Geraldine Quinn), Let It Sing (Billy Porter), and a live performance by Tara Leigh Dowler, “Wound Up” .
