Plebiscite and the issues facing LGBTI elders

On tonight’s edition of The Informer we’re looking at the marriage equality plebiscite that’s looming over the heads of LGBTI Australians, after our PM Malcolm Turnbull presented his plebiscite-enabling legislation to parliament earlier this week.

If it passes the Senate, we’ll be looking at a February 11 public vote, along with $7.5 million dollars in funding for both the “yes” and “no” campaigns. To chat about this, we’re going to be joined by spokesperson for LGBTI advocacy group just.equal, Ivan Hinton-Teoh.

We’ll also be speaking with Dr Catherine Barrett about the issues facing LGBTI elders in our community, ahead of Victorian Seniors Week next month.
