Will the plebiscite go to the polls, to the post or to the High Court?

Tonights hosts of The Informer are Ruby Mountford and Ian Muchamore, and for Ruby, it feels like groundhog day as she returns to JOY 94.9’s News and Current Affairs show to find us talking plebiscite all over again, thats right, the plebiscite is back from the dead, but in this sequel, it’s going postal!

Tonight on the show Ian and Ruby speak to Anna Brown, co-chair of The Equality Campaign and Director of Legal Advocacy for the Human Rights Law Centre.

Yesterday Anna threw down the gauntlet and warned the government that to have a plebiscite was unconstitutional, but since the Liberals emerged from their meeting it seems they have a different way to push their election promise forward…. but is it actually legal?

It’s been less than 24 hours since the announcement, but Anna tells us what she knows so far, it’s sobering and revealing, but with a reality that we may need to face.

Tiernan Brady, campaign director for The Equality Campaign has been on the ground in Canberra and has experience fighting this fight not just here in Australia, but around the world. He shares his frustration with the Liberal party announcement, a frustration we all feel.

All this talk of a plebiscite has not just left our listeners anxious and upset, but our hosts as well, it’s now more important than ever to be reminded about the services that are available to us should we need them. So manager of Switchboard Jo Ball joins us to remind us that the service is available to all members of our community who should need it.

Never be afraid to reach out for help.
