LGBTI Activism History in Australia with Barbera Creed : 2nd November 2017

Professor Barbara Creed; activist, feminist and scholar joins Lara on this episode of  The Informer.

Professor Creed is one of the founding members of the lesbian and gay liberation movement in Victoria and is here to discuss the history and radical roots in our LGBTI Community.

What are the differences between now and then? How did groups form in the 70s and deal with intersectional issues when they were not out of the closet like we are today? Can internal tension help or hinder our progression?
Pics are all from the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives, drawn from the online exhibition ‘Out of the Closets, into the Streets’  and the Art Blart Blog of The earlier exhibition ‘Out of the Closets, Into the Streets: Gay Liberation Photography, 1971-1973′.  The latter pic is of a CAMP demo in Sydney.
