Alison Xamon calls for WA’s last piece of legislation that allows for LGBTI discrimination to be scrapped & What is it like being an Asian man in the Bear Community : 3rd July 2018

On this episode of The Informer we speak to WA MP Alison Xamon who this week introduced legislation to amend Western Australia’s Equal Opportunities Act to prevent private religious schools from legally discriminating against employees, students and their families on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.

This bill is the last piece of legislation on the Western Australia Statutes that still allows for discrimination against members of the LGBTIQ community.

And we speak to Morro Qiu from New Zealand Mr Australasia Bear 2017, who represents a diverse image of what it means to be a bear, as he shares a narrative that we don’t always see, and don’t always allow enough room for a voice in our communities.

This episode of The Informer aired on JOY 94.9 and was hosted by Dean Arcuri.
