Transgender Warriors: Associate Professor Sandy O’Sullivan

This week we interview Associate Professor Sandy O’Sullivan, who is a Wiradjuri and trans academic. Their research and teaching include queer studies, art and design, built environment, music, performance, and cultural representation, with a particular focus on First Nations’ agency and aspiration. Sandy is the Deputy Head of School at the School of Creative Industries at the University of the Sunshine Coast. On this episode we have a fascinating chat about museums, trans representation and the need for more storytelling and representation of older trans and non-binary folks in the media.

You can keep up to date with Sandy’s work on their twitter account, @sandyosullivan.

Sandy is also an advocate and ambassador for Indigenous X. You can see their contributions on the Indigenous X website. Indigenous X also has an excellent rotating twitter account, @IndigenousXLtd.
